More than 250 light motives – all carefully handcrafted, 100 kilometers of twinkling fairy lights as well as numerous interactive light installations combine to create a wonderful tale, this year the “Legend of the Red Horn”.

The saga tells the story of the knight Willfried, who meets Elwine, the ruler of the Elbe, during one of his excursions on the banks of the Elbe. Elwine and Willfried travel together in a barge, which is pulled by a swan, to the Elbe island, where she shows him her world. Around her neck she wears a red horn to summon the swan. At an upcoming meeting with her sisters Saale and Unstrut, she asks him not to follow her. Driven by his curiosity, however, he breaks this promise and is discovered. A flash of lightning struck the earth and Elwine disappeared forever. What remained was her red horn.
